The importance of the work of career guidance and career centers in organizations of technical and vocational education

Zhusipbek Aimautov said, "There are no bad professions, but any of them requires aptitude; this is not just a way to make a living or feed yourself, but something that requires great art and great skill."

    The main goal of career guidance is to develop responsibility in choosing a profession, obtain information from the professional world, and guide young people towards in-demand professions of modern times.

      In the 2020-2021 academic year, the Career Guidance and Career Center was established at the I. Abdikarimov Kyzylorda Agrarian Technical Higher College. After being assigned to the center, the question was where to start. First, the center's regulations were developed, followed by the center's documentation, and then a plan covering 4 main modules was prepared, defining the mission, goals, and objectives.

  These are: professional information, professional counseling, professional selection, and professional adaptation.

Professional Information -

   Understanding the types, characteristics, importance, and significance of professions. Requirements for professions. Conditions created during preparation. Admission rules. (Open days, career guidance, etc.)

Professional Counseling -

   Need for specialists, their development prospects. Recommending professions to 9-11 grade students based on analysis of their health, anatomical-physiological and social-psychological conditions, and interests. Parents, specialists from partner institutions and educational organizations, and college graduates are involved in professional counseling work.

Professional Selection -

   Conducting research aimed at determining interest, aptitude, and individual characteristics for mastering the profession through special methods (surveys, conversations, trainings). Preliminary checking of students' predicted knowledge level.

Professional Adaptation -

   Attracting children to professions based on their abilities through clubs, organizations, and class activities organized in schools, working together with career guidance staff.

    After the plan was ready, implementation work began. Information about college history, available specialties, student and graduate achievements was prepared for the public and all interested parties through websites, social networks, other communication and media, and print materials. (leaflets, applicant's guide, billboards, slides, videos, vines, etc.)

   Lists of schools throughout the region were obtained, and chats were organized with career guidance representatives. Another important issue was organizing classes for teachers and students who conduct career guidance work. Here, complete information was provided about college history, specialties, material and technical base, scholarships, advantages of the institution, achievements in education and sports. Career guidance class hours were organized for college students, and career guidance games and trainings were organized for school students on choosing the right profession. Well-organized career guidance work certainly helps to revitalize the educational institution's work.

    One of the priority works at the educational institution is graduate employment. The career center is working in this direction. The career center's mission is to form and implement an effective career path for students, graduates, and specialists according to the principle of lifelong learning. The main goal of the career center is to create a system that helps "Student-graduate-specialist" find work, master their profession, and promote career growth.

Objectives:

🔹️Help college graduates adapt to the labor market;

🔹️Advise students on employment issues, assist in finding suitable vacancies;

🔹️Organize events (graduate fairs, presentations of profile organizations, round tables with employers, master classes and excursions for students, etc.)

🔹️Conduct quarterly monitoring of college graduates' employment;

🔹️Establish business connections with employers, study labor market needs for college graduate specialists;

🔹️Establish long-term partnerships with production facilities corresponding to specialties in the framework of employing college graduates.

    The following work was carried out to ensure a high degree of graduate employment:

    Lists of graduating students were obtained, an electronic database of resumes was created, an electronic database of "Successful Graduates" about graduates from different years was prepared, and events aimed at graduate employment were organized (Specialist Fairs, presentations by employer companies). A seminar on job search technologies was organized for graduates. Networking. Master classes were organized on proper resume writing, how to talk with employers, how to show their good qualities. Connections were established with regional and city employment coordination and social programs departments, identifying vacancies and offering them to graduates. I can say that the active work of the career guidance and career center was greatly influenced by the activity of the working group consisting of college administration, teachers, and students.
